D. Gary Young is a nutritionist, doctor of naturopathy, and founder of Young Living. He received the Humanitarian Award from the State Medical Examiner's Office of Baja, California (one of only six ever awarded) for his research and successful treatment of degenerative disease. In this research he was investigating the effects that essential oils have on the blood, as well as their ability to magnify the effects of other modalities, such as herbal medicine and acupuncture.
Gary discovered that essential oils are natural preservatives, and increase the bio-availability of herbs (making herbal formulas more effective). They assist with carrying the nutrients into your cells, making these nutrients readily available to your body.
This is an amazing advantage over the average vitamin, mineral or herbal supplement, which is limited by your body's ability to absorb its nutrition.
These findings led Gary to combine essential oils with virtually all of Young Living ’s supplements, food products and personal care products.
