The Young Living aromatherapy diffuser (also called "essential oil diffusers") is a special oil well, nebulizer and aquarium pump, uniquely designed to disburse essential oils in a micro-fine vapor into the atmosphere. The essential oils stay suspended for several hours, to reduce bacteria, fungi and mould, and to freshen the air with natural fragrances. Essential oil diffusers disperse oils without the heating or burning that can render the oil less beneficial, so it’s a great alternative to an oil burner.
Essential Oil diffusers are the most effective way to release the oils into the air without altering their vital energy and valuable properties, and are certainly the easiest and most convenient way to experience their many benefits. The most perfect way to improve your home, work or study environment is by using essential oil diffusers, either to help you relax, relieve tension, dispel odors, or just create an atmosphere of peace and harmony. And you have 4 colours (of the base) of aromatherapy diffuser to choose from: Blue, Bronze, Green or Pink. |
How to use:
Put 20 to 40 drops of essential oil in the well of the diffuser, and switch on! You will see the essential oil misting out of the glass nebuliser, and will quickly smell it throughout the room. When the mist stops (indicating that the aromatherapy diffuser is running low in oil), top up with more oil…..or wait until the oil well empties and change to a new blend.
Home Use:
Essential oil diffusers may be used for any length of time desired from 5 minutes per hour or on a continuous basis for 2 to 3 hours. However, short periods of time, such as 5 to 15 minutes per hour are recommended for those just beginning to use the oils.
Large Commercial Areas:
Turn your aromatherapy oil diffuser on for 15 to 30 minutes every 2 hours until everyone in the area becomes acquainted with the oils. It may also be left running continuously.
Changing Oils:
Diffusing a variety of Young Living Essential Oil Blends is an enjoyable way to discover your favorite ones. When changing from one single oil or blend to another, simply let all the oil in the well be diffused. Then add a little of the next oil, let it diffuse until empty and then add the amount you want. If there is too much oil left to diffuse, use an eyedropper to remove the excess from the well and put it back into the bottle.
Mixing Oils:
Do not mix the blends as you may change the desired results. However, a single oil may be added to a blend or two single oils may be mixed together and diffused.
V-6 Mixing & Massage Oils: Do not diffuse these products as they are too heavy and thick and will clog the diffuser. (Example: Ortho Ease, Sensation, Relaxation, Cel-Lite Magic, Dragon Time or any other vegetable-based product.) |
Oil Viscosity:
Different oils diffuse at different speeds, depending on their viscosity. Oils with a high viscosity (meaning they are thick) diffuse more slowly, and create more noise in the diffuser. This includes blends like Valor, Joy, Harmony, Awaken and 3 Wise Men, and single oils like Sandalwood, Cedarwood, Myrrh and Patchouli. To diffuse a bottle of Valor could take up to 48 hours or longer with the pump running continuously. Thinner oils diffuse much quicker (eg. a bottle of Citrus Fresh will diffuse within 8 hours). Other oils that diffuse quickly include blends such as Peace and Calming, R.C., Purification and ImmuPower, and single oils such as Lavender, Orange, and Lemon. A bottle of thicker oil can be left upside down in the well as it will diffuse slowly. However, with thinner oils, it would be better to put the desired amount of oil into the well so as not to use the entire bottle.
Caution:
Never add water to the oils in your aromatherapy diffuser or thin them with another substance as this will clog the jets and perhaps nullify the desired results.

When I first began using aromatherapy, my diffuser was a wet handkerchief or a piece of pantyhose hung in an open window (doused in oil). I now find the aromatherapy diffuser (also called essential oil diffusers) a much more efficient way to diffuse oils throughout my home and office. It works a treat – we live on the third floor of a building, and my clients and friends often comment that they can smell the oils from the moment that they enter the building. Because it makes a slight noise, I often diffuse it through the night or at times that I am out of the room. My favourite oils for diffusing are: Peace and Calming, Purification, Citrus Fresh, Lemon Myrtle and Harmony.
